Day and Night Firing Exercise at Debert Range

July 13, 2023 – Halifax, N.S. – Department of National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Residents of Debert are advised that soldiers will conduct day and night shooting at the Debert, Rifle Range in Debert, NS on July 16, 2023.

These exercises are conducted to ensure that personnel are familiar with proper weapons handling during day and night time operations. Night firing will be on Sunday, July 16, 2023, until 10:00 p.m.
Weapons and live ammunition will be used. This may cause increased levels of noise in the area. Any inconvenience is regretted. No traffic disruptions are anticipated.

Major Rural Broadband Network Taking Shape in Cumberland and Colchester

One of the largest optic fibre-based high speed internet networks in rural Canada is being built in the Municipalities of Colchester and Cumberland.   An Agreement between the Municipalities and Xplornet Communications Inc. was signed on August 21st following unanimous approval of both Councils.

Are you looking to make a difference in your community? Why not consider serving as a volunteer member of the newly formed Accessibility Advisory Committee? The Accessibility Advisory Committee provides advice to the Municipality of Colchester on identifying, preventing, and eliminating barriers to people with disabilities in programs, services, initiatives, and facilities. The Committee plays a pivotal role in helping the Municipality of Colchester to become accessible and in compliance with Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Act (2017)

Under the Accessibility Act, at least one half of the members of the advisory committee must have a disability or represent an organization that represents people with disabilities.

The preliminary lists of electors have been prepared for the upcoming Municipal and Conseil scolaire acadien provincial Elections. The Returning Officer may make additions or corrections to the lists upon your application in person, by telephone, mail, fax, or e-mail.

Electors may find out if they are on the list of electors by contacting the Returning Office between the hours of 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday to Friday, before September 30, 2020.
