No 2020 Spring Clean-Up Program for residents of Colchester County due to COVID-19
To assist each household with bulky waste disposal you will be able to place two large items curbside on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day for pick up. This bulky waste collection is only for properties that are currently eligible for residential curbside collection.
Two bulky item collection begins for Municipality of Colchester residents on May 4, 2020 and will continue until March 31, 2021. The program will be reassessed throughout the year to evaluate if it will continue or if Spring Clean Ups will be reinstated for the Spring of 2021. Only residential properties that are three units or less, apartment building (four to six units) and nonprofit organizations that have applied for residential curbside collection are eligible. Please refer to your collection schedule to ensure that materials are placed out on the appropriate collection day.
Items are to be placed within 10 feet of the road by 7:00am on your collection day.
The maximum weight of individual items cannot exceed 50lbs or one cubic meter in size, except for furniture and appliances.

Electronic Drop off depots are closed at this time due to Covid 19. Please continue to hold on to your electronic recyclables. Blue Bag Recycling Resumes April 8, 2020

Blue bag residential curbside collection will resume on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Please have blue bags curbside by 7:00 am on your collection day.
Recyclables sorting at our Materials Recovery Facility remains suspended to comply with safe distancing requirements under the Nova Scotia State of Emergency declaration. These measures are being taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Material will be stored on site. The site remains closed to the general public.
Thank you for your continued cooperation in sorting your materials properly.
Reminder, due to the holiday weekend, there will be no collection on Friday, April 10 or Monday, April 13, 2020.

Update On Municipal Park Closures And Trails

Until further notice
- All municipal parks and their parking lots are closed.
- All trails within municipal parks are closed.
- All playgrounds are closed.
- Parking lots used for accessing municipal trails are closed. Driving to and parking at trailheads to access trails is not permitted.
Sections of the Cobequid Trail operated by the Municipal of Colchester remain open for exercise if you can access them by walking, cycling, or wheelchair from your home. These include the following:
- Rail trail section from Shore Road in Old Barns easterly to the Town of Truro boundary (near Emera driveway, near north end of Wade Road)
- Farnham Brook section in Valley and Bible Hill
- Dalhousie Agricultural Campus section
Gathering limits and physical distancing must be followed.

Reminder: departments of the Municipality of Colchester remain in operation
Departments of the Municipality of Colchester remain in operation despite offices and facilities being closed to public visitation due to concerns related to COVID-19. The Municipality will continue to provide all services such as community planning, building inspection, public works, garbage collection, etc., to the maximum extent possible.
You may continue to contact the Municipality by phone or email during regular business hours
